Susan G. Komen Chapter benefit ride September 14, 2008 |
|
 |
The Ladies of Harley foster an
environment in which both lady riders and passengers can
feel comfortable. For those who attend an L.O.H. event, they
will experience the camaraderie, fellowship, learning and
fun that are at the
heart of motorcycling. We also wish to extend an
invitation to the men riders of our H.O.G. chapter
that would like to add
their support to our female enthusiast.
Ladies
of Harley is not another organization. It is a membership
benefit for women to feel even more a part of H.O.G. Use our
Chapter website calendar for dates, time and location of our
quarterly
meetings. Please email
Donna Shimabuku
with any questions you may have. |

HARLEY-DAVIDSON®
ENCOURAGES WOMEN TO RIDE
More
women are taking to the open road on motorcycles
than ever before, and Harley-Davidson® wants to
encourage female ridership and inspire even greater
numbers to take life by the handlebars.
There are more than 4.3 million female motorcyclists
on the road today, and according to the Motorcycle
Industry Council’s most recent research, the number
of female motorcycle riders increased 34 percent
between 1998 and 2003. In fact, the number of women
who have purchased new Harley-Davidson® motorcycles
has tripled over the past 20 years, and women now
account for nearly 12 percent of new Harley owners.
The Harley-Davidson® Motor Company is doing its part
in promoting two-wheel transportation amongst the
fairer sex by releasing “We Ride - The
Harley-Davidson® Guide for Women,” a special 48-page
riding guide geared toward women to give them a
basic overview of what a new rider needs to know
about getting into the sport.
The guide, which can be picked up at local
dealerships or available online at
www.harley-davidson.com/womenriders,
features information on how and where women can
learn to ride, with details on the Rider's Edge New
Rider Course, the best way to fit a motorcycle for a
woman's ergonomic and functional needs, getting
involved with riding groups, and inspirational
stories from other women who ride.

LADIES OF HARLEY MEMORIES CONTEST
|
|
There was a time when a woman riding a
motorcycle was looked at with scorn. Thankfully,
those days are long gone – thanks, in large
part, to the many women who ride their own
Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. We celebrate those
women with the Ladies of Harley® (LOH) – and
encourage them to share their stories with the
LOH Motorcycling Memories Contest.
(You must be an active
full, full life, associate, or associate life
member of H.O.G.® to be affiliated with Ladies
of Harley. Although LOH is free of charge, this
benefit is not automatic. If you would like to
join,
update your membership
profile to
include LOH.)
If you have a great story to tell (everyone
does, even if they don't realize it), put your
words to paper and send them in, along with a
quality color photo of you and your bike. You
may find yourself appearing in Hog Tales®
and on the H.O.G.® Web site – and clutching a
$500 H.O.G. gift certificate.
